Ami Maki (She/They) is a Portland, Oregon based artist who’s exists to create beauty, comfort and joy, to connect deeply through art and shared space. She creates art to remind people of their inherent, sacred belonging to nature and remind them of its ability to effortlessly exist, unapologetically. As a queer, poly, and neurodivergent individual, she brings a unique perspective to her creative work. She has been collaborating with people for over 25 years to create commissioned portraits and feels most at home when creating work with about and for others. She ran a successful pet portrait business for many years and currently owns and operates a tattoo shop from her home. She teaches "Transformative Arts" (awakeningartsacademy.com), a modality for self-knowledge and growth through art. She teaches classes and private lessons in drawing and creative exploration.
